Best known in Trentino-Alto Adige, today the Traminer also offers excellent wines in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where it is grown throughout the territory.
Our vineyard is located inside the DOC Collio.
“Outstanding impact on the nose for its harmonious, powerful and persuasive bouquet. With its clear and determined fruit aromas and its touchable consistency, this wine communicates its grapes’ quality and the accuracy of the vinification techniques.”
This is how Luca Maroni‘s review about our Traminer Aromatico [Aromatic Traminer] starts. Luca Maroni is the authour of the wine-guide called “Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani” (Yearbook of the Best Italian Wines).
An elegant product: extremely pleasant, well-balanced, with a delicate perfume of flowers, fruit, ginger and some light vanilla notes. To try with spicy exotic dishes, blue cheeses or chocolate for a new delicious experience.
During a conference held in Bolzano in 2011, Prof. Attilio Scienza of the University of Milan established the origin of Aromatic Traminer in the Rhine valley, basing his opinion on ancient historical documents from the Middle Age. This vine is therefore the result of exchanges between populations from Alsace to Germany and to Italy, with 1,500 years of genetic diversification in its history.
Until recently, in fact, the Traminer was tought to find its origins in Tramin (in German), or Termeno (in Italian), a village in Bolzano’s province considered the cradle of this grape variety. However, the current DNA analysis and some in-depth studies by Prof. Scienza showed that it was probably an overlap of names: the “Traminer” wine, coming from Tramin (or Termeno) and whose name actually derived from this village, wasn’t really produced using Traminer grapes. The “misunderstanding” is probably due to the tradition in the Middle Age of trading wines with the name of their place of origin, regardless of the variety used.
