The Wine

One of the best known and most widely cultivated white grape varieties in the world, a synthesis of richness and elegance. Chardonnay is extremely adaptable to climates and territories, showing different aspects each time according to the terroir.
However, it is difficult to obtain a delicate and balanced version where its delicacy is not overwhelmed by the significant use of wood. Our “Ronco Bernizza” is certainly a good interpretation of Chardonnay, as acclaimed by the main Italian wine guides.
The vineyard and the vine
Ronco Bernizza
Acquisition of the largest vineyard parcels, 5 hectares at Bernizza, has begun. On the north-west slope of the hill, in the heart of a wooded area rich in biodiversity, the ideal exposure was found to plant the Chardonnay vines, in order to give this international grape variety a strong territorial imprint that plays, in the glass, between structure and elegance.
On the origins of Chardonnay, there is still no certainty, but its provenance from Burgundy is almost sure, from where it gradually spread all over the world. In particular, in Friuli Venezia Giulia it found a good environment to optimally express its olfactory and gustatory characteristics.
Our Chardonnay vines are located in Località Bernizza, in the DOC Collio, therefore it is the location of the vineyard that gives its name to the wine itself.
