Sustainability
Bees
We host the hives of a local honey producer on our property to encourage animal and plant biodiversity.
Manure
The manure or dung that we use is guaranteed to be organically sourced
Biodynamics
We treat our soil with biodynamic preparations to make it more vital and welcoming.
No herbicides
The grass in the sub-row is weeded, ground and cut with machines specially created for Venica&Venica
Green manure
We use multi-purpose sowing to avoid soil erosion, safeguard vineyards and generate biodiversity
Walking the vineyard
For our company, environmental sustainability is the starting point of a process that unites producers and consumers and focuses attention on the uniqueness of each wine as an expression of each individual production. By committing ourselves to maintaining the integrity of the land and protecting biodiversity, we add value to our business and become ‘sentinels’ of the territory, just like dad Adelchi.
In the Venica household, respect for nature and people has distant origins: grandfather Daniele taught us to respect the cycles of nature and to use only natural products in the vineyard and in the cellar.
We “walk the vineyard” to rediscover these founding values, passed down in our family from generation to generation and re-interpreted in the light of a modern and rigorous approach, with strong scientific and technical foundations. This approach, together with scientific research, has led us to rediscover our environmental identity and to operate an agronomic and social management made up of good daily practices to take care of the environment, people and the community in which we live.
“In fact, ‘walking the vines’ means undertaking precisely a path of observation and planning that is attentive to the plant, its roots, the soil in which they live and take shape, and the surrounding environment of which we feel ourselves the guardians. Taking the time to observe it, assess and perceive its needs, analyse its criticalities and work out solutions.

The VIVA project
Ornella Venica - Relazioni esterne Azienda Venica & Venica
In 2011, driven by the desire to experiment with new tools for continuous improvement, the company joined V.I.V.A. SUSTAINABLE WINE – Valutazione dell’Impatto della Viticoltura sull’Ambiente (Assessment of the Impact of Viticulture on the Environment) – a national pilot project launched by the Ministry of the Environment in collaboration with nine companies and three research centres for sustainable ‘Made in Italy’ wine.
The project is still operational and measures the sustainability performance of the vine-wine supply chain, starting with the calculation of the water and carbon footprint.
The voluntary decision to join stemmed from the need to better understand what impact our actions have on the environment and the society that hosts us, so that in the future we can become even more responsible in our use of natural resources and common goods.
