Vinification | Aging

The grapes are placed on the ‘Toblar’ (Italian for ‘barn’), which gives the wine its name, and dried for 1 month. This is followed by pressing and fermentation in Barrique for 14-15 days at 18-20°. Maturation takes place in Barrique for a further 10 months. Afterwards, the wine is bottled.

Aging potential

The Wine

Verduzzo friulano, certainly of ancient origin, is an indigenous grape variety of the Friuli region. It is cultivated only in its area of origin, but is also rarely found in the rest of north-eastern Italy, particularly in the neighbouring Veneto provinces.

This grape variety adapts to different environments, but prefers especially well exposed hilly areas.

Note the particularity of its harvest, which for climatic reasons does not take place every year. In fact, it is a so-called ‘late harvest’, i.e. the grapes are picked at the end of October. So more than a month after the harvest of our white and red wines has been completed.

The Verduzzo grapes are harvested when the bunches have already undergone a modest drying process. The grapes are then placed on the ‘Toblar’, Italian for ‘barn’, which gives the wine its name. In this way they are dried for about 1 month.
