Venica & Venica
SAUVIGNON "Ronco delle Mele" 2013, Friuli, Italy
Herbaceous, and made by superstar winemaker Giampaolo Venica from his only Sauvignon Blanc vineyard on the northeast-facing slopes above the town of Vencò.
Historically known as Tocai Friulano, this grape varietal was known as Tocai until 2007, when the European Union mandated the name change.
I think of Friulano as if Mother Nature closed her eyes and made a grape with the melon and fruit of great Pinot Grigio crossed with the herbaceous notes of Sauvignon Blanc.
Friulano that is grown on the ponca soil of the Collio has a salty minerality that's a great pairing with the classic Prosciutto San Daniele.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="50px"][vc_separator type="normal"][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image="4311" img_size="full" qode_css_animation=""][/vc_column][/vc_row]
